Bio:: Tina Luna, Art Director/Senior Graphic Designer.
Tina Luna lost her father, Joe Cartwright to cancer in November of 2012. One month earlier in October, as her father struggled, Tina and her husband, Armando Luna, attended ArtCAN. She was so moved by the event, that after the passing of her father she began volunteering to help bring ArtCAN 2013 to fruition. Tina’s love of art and classical music was a gift from her father. Joe spent many afternoons with his grandchildren teaching them to draw and filling them with inspiration and love for art. The pain of losing her father has been the motivation for Tina to investigate the obvious causes of cancer in our society. Since her father’s death she has completely changed her family’s diet, as well as all skin care and beauty products used in their daily lives. She strongly feels we can all make a difference by educating ourselves as to some of the everyday catalysts of cancer. The JCM Foundation is an inspiration to all families who have lost a loved one to cancer. Tina is energized to help raise funds for Johns Hopkins and Emory to find an early detection and cure for Pancreatic Cancer and she is honored to be a part of this organization.
Tina was trained by an original Rockette, Doris Russell, in the 1980’s and danced professionally for two decades. She holds a BFA with a concentration in graphic design and has worked as a graphic designer in Atlanta since 1994. After college Tina founded a performing company in metro Atlanta that toured the southeast for five years. She also taught at the Atlanta Ballet until just after the birth of her first daughter, Allie, in 2003. With the desire to spend more time with her daughters, Tina now works from home as a freelance graphic designer. She loves painting and photography and is an advocate for arts education in all schools.
ArtCAN fulfills Tina’s love of art and her desire to help make a difference in the lives of others who are affected by cancer and encourages your help and participation in this wonderful cause.
ArtCAN is a unique and original fund raising event that features a fine art auction and original performances from selected acclaimed performing and visual artists from around the world who have been closely affected by cancer.
