 Atlanta (October 4, 2013) – Attendees at the third annual ArtCAN event will have the opportunity to spend an evening viewing pop-up performances from Atlanta Ballet, The Atlanta Opera and  Atlanta Symphony Orchestra culminating in a collaborative piece with music, dance and song performed for the first time. All of the evening’s performances will take place within the setting of a silent auction of fine art by artists from around the world whose lives have been closely affected by cancer.

Atlanta (July 8, 2013) – Back for a third exciting year, ArtCAN, the Joseph C. Monastra Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research fundraiser, takes place on Saturday, November 9, 2013 in its new location at Atlanta Ballet’s Michael C. Carlos Dance Centre. This event features unprecedented collaboration of the performance and visual arts of Atlanta, joining the Atlanta Ballet, the Atlanta Opera, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and visual artists from around the world to help raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research.

Funds raised have already led to groundbreaking research.

Pancreatic Cancer is the deadliest of all cancers and the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in men and women. It is estimated that this year nearly 44,000 Americans will be diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas. An almost equal number of patients will die from pancreatic cancer during this year. With an increasing mortality rate, no warning signs and no early detection pancreatic cancer will continue to be the “silent killer,” brutally and quickly taking the lives of those diagnosed. The fight to find a cure and early detection for pancreatic cancer continues.
