Bio: Grace M. Saunders - President, Joseph C. Monastra Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Grace M. Saunders is President of The Joseph C. Monastra (JCM) Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. As one of its founders she made a commitment to raise needed funding for early detection as well as finding a cure for pancreatic cancer. Joseph Monastra was her father and his passing after only 4 weeks after diagnosis brought to light the staggering statistics of pancreatic cancer. There are no early detection tests and very little research funding was available. Upon visiting Johns Hopkins Medical Institute it was determined that the scientists, specifically researching pancreatic cancer would be the recipients of money raised by The JCM Foundation. Now in it’s eleventh year, the many volunteers and supporters of the foundation are making a difference.
Grace graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. She currently runs her own piano studio offering private instruction to students of all ages. She is also on the Board of Directors for a chapter of The Illinois State Music Teachers Association.
ArtCAN is a unique and original fund raising event that features a fine art auction and original performances from selected acclaimed performing and visual artists from around the world who have been closely affected by cancer.
