My career as a professional ballet dancer was shaped by my mentors. These were the people who realized and uncovered the jewels within my being. My most influential mentor was Violetta Boft. A Russian-American ballet dancer who coached me until she lost her battle with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma'Ž. The most important quality she imparted on myself and others was the phrase, "If you have the spirit, you have the strength." This wisdom is something I share in every aspect of living. Her words and insight are shared with my children, my dance students and anyone finding a rock in their road. If I had not had Violetta at the start of my career, nor in my heart, I would not have blossomed into the artist and human I am today.
